Wide receiver DeSean Jackson was overt about his desire for a longterm contract throughout the 2011 season. Whether or not or not that will lastly come to fruition with the Philadelphia Eagles is nonetheless quite significantly in limbo.
The Philadelphia Inquirer, citing league sources, reported Sunday that the Eagles won’t let go of Jackson, whose contract is about to expire, without having finding some thing in return. That would mean the Eagles are all but guaranteed to location the franchise tag on their Pro Bowl receiver if a deal isn’t reached by March five, the deadline for teams to franchise players.
By franchising Jackson, the Eagles wouldn’t let him hit the open industry and preserve the choice to trade the fifth-year receiver.
The Inquirer, citing sources close to Jackson, also reported that he would be willing to sign the Eagles’ a single-year tender worth around $ 9.5 million (or almost $ 9 million a lot more than he earned last year).
Last month, Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie stated he would welcome the controversial Jackson back to the Eagles “if the correct terms develop.”
Last season wasn’t just rocky for Jackson off the field with his contract dispute, but also on it, exactly where his production slipped. Jackson had just 58 catches for 961 and four touchdowns. His 16.6 yards-per-catch average was nearly 6 yards lower than his 2010 average of 22.five.

The rough week of Vikings defensive back Chris Cook has gotten a little rougher.
Released from jail on bail following being arrested for domestic assault more than the weekend (which brought on him to miss Sunday’s game against the Packers), Cook now faces the loss of his job. Possibly.
Till the Vikings determine what to do with Cook, the team has suspended him without having pay. The team announced the selection on Tuesday night, calling the allegations against Cook “very disturbing and disappointing.”
Cook allegedly choked his girlfriend following studying she had talked to an ex-boyfriend. Cook has proclaimed his innocence on Twitter.
Below the CBA, player may be suspended up to 4 games without having pay for conduct detrimental to the team. Though off-duty behavior usually falls below the auspices of the NFL’s individual conduct policy, Cook’s brush with the law left him unavailable to do his job on Sunday, which clearly was detrimental to his team.
The Vikings also would likely be inside their rights to cut Cook. Nonetheless, a suspension without having pay extending beyond four games could give rise to a fight under the plain terms of the labor deal.
Cook joined the team via the leading of round two in 2010, after the Vikings traded out of the bottom of round one with the Lions, who utilized the pick to take tailback Jahvid Greatest.

The thing that’s encouraging about that is he’s performing some points, like stepping over deals, performing some adjust of direction things and some movement points exactly where it is not obtaining worse. It’s truly feeling better the next day, so I’m encouraged by that.”

Yeah, this Colts season could get ugly quick.
Here’s what we learned whilst watching the Texans race out to a 34- halftime lead against the Colts on their way to a 34-7 win.
1. Peyton Manning covered up so numerous problems for the Colts. They all showed up Sunday.
The offensive line couldn’t safeguard Kerry Collins. The operating game was nowhere to be discovered. The team struggled to recognize Houston’s blitzes. Special teams was poor, as usual. The defense couldn’t quit the run, as usual.
two. Collins started 5-for-five, but that came with two lost fumbles. Both Colts tackles looked a little lost at times. Communication was an concern for Indy’s offensive line.
three. It doesn’t matter who’s at running back for the Texans. When Derrick Ward left with an injury at halftime, Ben Tate finished the job with 116 yards and a touchdown. We even had a Steve Slaton sighting.
Houston is the new Denver. Their offensive line is that very good any back they play will get yards.
four. So much for that slow transition to Wade Phillips’ defense. Mario Williams had two sacks. Antonio Smith was possibly a lot more disruptive and looked like a best fit for the defense. Rookie J.J. Watt was a massive factor all day.
It was the ideal initial week opponent for Houston. Now the defense has confidence the new scheme works.
five. The Texans are favorites in the AFC South. It doesn’t mean we should just hand them the division, but they ought to be able to produce distance with Indy in brief order. Tennessee and Jacksonville have problems.

With receiver Marques Colston gone for a month or longer due to a broken collarbone and receiver Lance Moore missing Thursday night’s opener against the Packers with a groin injury, the Saints require a little divine intervention.
Or maybe they just want a diva.
According to WWLTV.com, receiver Randy Moss was at the Saints’ facility on Saturday.
Sadly, the report apparently is erroneous. Per a league source, if Moss created a go to to the Saints facility, the pay a visit to occurred without having the Saints contacting Randy’s agent, Joel Segal. Not only would that be highly unconventional, it also would likely be a violation of the labor deal, specially if any conversations occurred with Randy regarding a probable contract.
Moss has “retired” from the NFL, but it is believed that he’d return in specific particular circumstances. The Saints were 1 of numerous teams believed to be on Randy’s radar, along with the Pats, Bears, Eagles, and Colts (before Peyton’s newest surgical process).
