Brian Waters Will Join the Patriots

Brian Waters will join the Patriots

The Patriots have added another veteran hungry for a title to the mix.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports Waters and the Patriots agreed to a contract on Sunday morning.  The move can’t grow to be official until one more roster spot is opened later in the day.

By signing Waters now, the Patriots guarantee his salary for the season.  That’s a sign that they expect him to have a significant role.  (It is also a sign they are quite banged up at guard other than Logan Mankins.)

Waters created five Pro Bowls in Kansas City prior to obtaining cut soon after last season.  He was the 2009 NFL Man of the Year.

Chiefs, Brian Waters Part Ways

 Chiefs, Brian Waters part ways

After 11 years together, the Kansas City Chiefs and veteran guard Brian Waters have parted techniques.  It was, by all appearances, a mutual agreement.

The team announced the move on its internet site.

“I’d like to thank the entire Chiefs organization, specially for giving me an chance as a young player when other teams wouldn’t,” Waters stated.  “I’m grateful for the coaches, teammates and support staff who helped me turn out to be the player and man I am these days.  I’d also like to thank the fans of Kansas City who cheered us on.  The Chiefs and I have mutually agreed on this decision and despite the fact that I appear forward to continuing my career, I’ll constantly have a particular location in my heart for Kansas City.”

“Brian has played a key role in our progress and I am personally grateful for his contributions to this team,” G.M. Scott Pioli stated.  “He and I had a excellent discussion and mutually agreed that this is a sound football choice for each Brian and the Chiefs.  Brian has been an integral component of this organization and will often be portion of the Kansas City Chiefs. We wish him absolutely nothing but the best.”

Although it would be easy to suspect that Waters was targeted for his role on the NFLPA Executive Committee, each sides are saying it was mutual.

And so now Waters, who has given no indication of an intention to retire, will hit the marketplace.  He’s a 5-time Pro Bowler and a two-time All Pro.
