The Miami Dolphins have ruled out operating back Daniel Thomas for Sunday’s matchup with the New York Giants due to the fact of a lingering hamstring injury, a team source told NFL Network’s Stacey Dales.
Thomas was originally listed as questionable in Friday’s injury report but was not on the team’s flight to New York.
Thomas’ absence will mean a bigger role for starter Reggie Bush, who had been sharing carries with Thomas. Lex Hilliard and Steve Slaton could see far more action as nicely, as the Dolphins go up against the Giants’ 27th-ranked run defense.
Dolphins cornerback Vontae Davis has also been ruled out of his second straight game with a hamstring injury. He was previously listed as doubtful.
This is the second time in four weeks that Thomas, who totaled 53 yards on 19 carries in the Dolphins’ Week 7 loss to the Denver Broncos, has been held out with a hamstring injury.
Thomas has totaled 302 yards on 75 carries as well as a pair of touchdowns and 49 yards on seven receptions this season.

Life Without Manning: Even Worse Than the Colts Imagined
Posted on 11 September 2011.

Yeah, this Colts season could get ugly rapidly.
Here’s what we learned even though watching the Texans race out to a 34- halftime lead against the Colts on their way to a 34-7 win.
1. Peyton Manning covered up so several concerns for the Colts. They all showed up Sunday.
The offensive line couldn’t shield Kerry Collins. The running game was nowhere to be found. The team struggled to recognize Houston’s blitzes. Special teams was poor, as usual. The defense couldn’t quit the run, as usual.
2. Collins started five-for-five, but that came with two lost fumbles. Both Colts tackles looked a small lost at times. Communication was an issue for Indy’s offensive line.
3. It does not matter who’s at operating back for the Texans. When Derrick Ward left with an injury at halftime, Ben Tate finished the job with 116 yards and a touchdown. We even had a Steve Slaton sighting.
Houston is the new Denver. Their offensive line is that very good any back they play will get yards.
four. So a lot for that slow transition to Wade Phillips’ defense. Mario Williams had two sacks. Antonio Smith was possibly a lot more disruptive and looked like a best fit for the defense. Rookie J.J. Watt was a large factor all day.
It was the excellent very first week opponent for Houston. Now the defense has confidence the new scheme works.
five. The Texans are favorites in the AFC South. It doesn’t mean we should just hand them the division, but they need to be able to produce distance with Indy in brief order. Tennessee and Jacksonville have problems.

Another Houston Running Back Is Injured
Posted on 16 August 2011.
At the tailback position, the Texans are gradually going from an embarrassment of riches to simply an embarrassment.
Veteran Derrick Ward has joined the list of the walking wounded in Houston after hitting the ground hard on the sidelines against the Jets. He has headed to the locker room under his own power for observation, and it appears that his lower body is fine.
Already absent for the Texans are Arian Foster, Ben Tate, and Steve Slaton.
