An Interesting Take on Reggie Wayne’s Remarks

An interesting take on Reggie Waynes remarks

On Thursday morning, as soon as we caught wind of Reggie Wayne’s inflammatory comments about the Colts’ decision to sign quarterback Kerry Collins, I went straight to the Indianapolis Star for the precise quotes.

The only difficulty?  The Star left out the very best stuff (or, from the Colts’ perspective, the worst stuff).

Last night, the Star offered up much more quotes from Wayne, once more omitting the very best (worst) stuff from Wednesday.  Philip B. Wilson of the Star led off his column by applauding Wayne for supporting teammate Curtis Painter, even as Wayne tossed new teammate Kerry Collins below the very same bus where the offensive line was pitched by Peyton Manning after that 2005 division-round playoff loss to the Steelers.

And then Wilson supplied up an intriguing theory/explanation/excuse for Wayne’s outburst.  Wilson thinks Wayne said what he said in order to get Peyton Manning even more motivated to return to the field by Week One.

The possibility of the Colts bringing in Brett Favre was mentioned.  Said Wayne, “Brett Favre . . . I feel the identical way about Kerry Collins walking in this door, that’s going to push Peyton even far more to want to play, you know what I’m saying? That’s just what it is.  I got absolutely nothing against T.O. or whatever receiver is out there, you bring them in here, I guarantee my game is going up some more.”

The idea makes some sense, even if the capability of sheer will to speed the regeneration of nerves remains medically unproven.  That said, Wayne’s choice to trash Kerry Collins appears to be unrelated to the motivation that Collins’ presence will provide to Manning.

And the Star appears to be going out of its way to avoid Wayne’s remarks from causing any trouble for the property team.

Our own theory is slightly much more straightforward.  Wayne hasn’t been happy with his contract for effectively more than a year, and the team has completed nothing to address his concerns.  Thus, on the rare occasion (for the Colts) when a potentially controversial team-related topic lands in Wayne’s lap and he can choose to toe the presumptive party line or say whatever he desires no matter the mess it might trigger, a guy who thinks the team isn’t treating him appropriate naturally will gravitate toward the latter.

At least the Colts still have a neighborhood media that is all too pleased to grab a mop.

Rest Easy: Reggie Bush’s Heisman Trophy Has Been Located

Rest easy: Reggie Bushs Heisman Trophy has been located

Congratulations go out to James Varney of the New Orleans Times-Picayune, who has come in very first place following a nationwide search for Reggie Bush’s Heisman Trophy.

The trophy is at present situated at the San Diego Hall of Champions, despite the fact that museum said that arrangements are being created to return the trophy to the Bush loved ones.   It is unclear no matter whether Reggie or somebody else will get it.

The whereabouts of the trophy became a story earlier this when it was reported on the Dan Patrick Show Bush never gave back the trophy as promised. An employee at the San Diego Hall of Champions stated then that Bush’s dad took the trophy, and that was the last they saw of it.

Apparently, there was some misinformation spread.  Either the Hall is covering for the Bush family or perhaps they just wanted to keep the trophy.

Varney writes that ”not everyone agrees” Bush should return the trophy, such as some at the Hall of Champions.

Reggie Bush Films Reality Show, Lifts Weights with High Schoolers

Reggie Bush films reality show, lifts weights with high schoolers

Couple of players have had their activities much more heavily scrutinized this offseason than Reggie Bush, who stepped into a social media firestorm when he tweeted that he was enjoying the rest and relaxation supplied by the lockout.

But Bush is performing far more than just relaxing: He’s also filming a reality show during the lockout. That reality show had him traveling to Danville, Illinois, where he participated in a weightlifting session with players at Schlarman High School. So at least he’s obtaining some workouts in.

Bush is in Danville simply because there’s one more man named Reggie Bush who lives in Danville, and the Reggie Bush who plays for the New Orleans Saints is participating in an upcoming reality Television show referred to as Exact same Name. The show has Bush trading places with a construction worker in Danville who’s named Reggie Bush.

Reggie Bush the construction worker has a son, Jacob Bush, who attends Schlarman High, so Jacob and members of the Schlarman football team got to see very first hand that Bush is doing more during the lockout than just vacation, rest and relaxing.

Reggie Bush Enjoying the Lockout: “Vacation, Rest, Relaxing”

Reggie Bush enjoying the lockout: Vacation, rest, relaxing

Saints running back Reggie Bush isn’t sweating the lockout. In reality, he’s enjoying not sweating at all.

Bush posted messages on his Facebook and Twitter accounts Monday evening saying that he’s thankful for the time off the lockout has given him, as opposed to having to endure the tough function of organized team activities and minicamps.

“Everybody complaining about the lockout! Shoot I’m creating the most of it! Vacation, rest, relaxing, appearances here and there! I’m very good!” Bush wrote. “Right about now we would be slaving in 100 degree heat, practicing twice a day, while putting our bodies at risk for nothing.”

Following that, hundreds of fans lit into Bush, sending him Facebook and Twitter messages telling him he really should suck it up and function challenging simply because he’s a professional athlete producing millions of dollars — especially considering that, after the Saints drafted Mark Ingram, Bush himself acknowledged that he’s going to be looking for a new team as soon as the lockout ends.

However, following seeing some of the intense criticism that came his way, Bush responded that he had just been joking around.

“FYI last tweet was a joke! Relax folks damn it is referred to as sense of humor! Cry me a river why don’t you,” Bush wrote.

Clearly, many of Bush’s 1.four million Facebook fans and 1.6 million Twitter followers have a different sense of humor than he does.
