Peyton Manning begins operate at the Denver Broncos’ facility Monday when the team’s offseason plan starts. In the short term, the Broncos’ coaching staff ought to be worried about keeping up with their new pupil.
But the organization continues to believe extended term about what will happen in the post-Manning era. The Denver Post reports the team is bringing in Michigan State quarterback Kirk Cousins and San Diego State’s Ryan Lindley for pre-draft workouts this week.
The team also visited with Brock Osweiler last week. These aren’t just pre-draft smokescreens. We’d be very surprised if the Broncos don’t take a quarterback in this draft, possibly as high as the second round.
Denver stated plenty when it signed Caleb Hanie as Manning’s backup. That’s a sign that they were “all in” with Manning’s well being, and that they planned to bring in a rookie to groom behind Manning. Hanie makes no sense without having another addition.
Don’t be shocked if Lindley, Osweiler, or Cousins winds up being that addition, and having the best quarterback tutor imaginable as a rookie.

Reports have been circulating all through the league in latest days that Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning’s rehab back from neck surgery has been progressing in a positive path, and 4 sources with understanding of Manning’s rehab told NFL Network’s Albert Breer that Manning steadily has regained strength in his grip and triceps.
1 source told Breer that Manning is throwing the ball “really properly,” while another stated the quarterback “feels excellent” about where he is in the procedure.
Now there’s reportedly visual proof to confirm Manning’s returning arm strength, as a 27-second video of Manning going by way of an aggressive throwing session in his Colts helmet, shoulder pads and jersey at Duke University appeared on YouTube late Friday.
A source confirmed to Breer on Saturday that the player in the video was Manning.
In the video, which seems to have been taken from behind a goal post in an finish zone, Manning can be seen throwing deep balls and “out” routes to either side of the field.
Manning was accompanied by receivers Brandon Stokley, Austin Collie and tight end Dallas Clark at this week’s workouts, conducted under the supervision of Duke head coach David Cutcliffe (Manning’s offensive coordinator at the University of Tennessee). Manning had been operating out in South Florida, just before this most current set of sessions.
The Duke athletic department confirmed to NFL Network that Manning will be at Saturday night’s males’s college basketball game between the North Carolina Tar Heels and Duke Blue Devils at Duke’s Cameron Indoor Stadium. Manning will be accompanied by Stokley, Collie and Clark, according to Breer. Colts center Jeff Saturday is also in Durham for the game, but the former Tar Heel will be sitting behind the Carolina bench.
Manning is due a $ 28 million alternative bonus on March eight, and speculation has persisted that the Colts will release Manning prior to that date.

Now that Brady Quinn has gone and got himself swept up in the 24-hour news cycle, he’s moved on to harm manage.
As we documented earlier Tuesday, Quinn had some eyebrow-raising quotes in a GQ piece documenting the rise of Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow. In it, Quinn bemoans the reality no one supported him with a billboard and said that some of Tebow’s on-field behavior wasn’t “very humble to me.”
Of course, when you take Tebow’s name in vain, you much better be ready to duck the lightning bolts. Quinn does this even though casting blame on Michael Silver, the writer he feels deceived him.
“The comments attributed to me in a recent magazine article are in NO WAY reflective of my opinion of Tim and the Broncos,” Quinn began in a five-portion rant on his Twitter page. “Tim deserves a lot of credit for our success and I’m happy for him and what he achieved. Most importantly, he is a excellent teammate.
“That interview was conducted 3 months ago, and the resulting story was a completely inaccurate portrayal of my comments,” he went on. “I have addressed my disappointment with the writer and have reached out to Tim to clear this up. I apologize to any individual who feels I was trying to take anything away from our Team’s or Tim’s success this season.”
Other than egregious misquoting, it’s hard to envision what Silver could have completed to generate a “completely inaccurate portrayal.” Of course, Quinn is about to hit the totally free-agent market, and he almost certainly doesn’t want to be identified as the guy who spits on the floor on his way out the door.

The sight of Rob Gronkowski shaking off an ankle injury and a Super Bowl loss to dance the night away has drawn the expected quantity of criticism, and almost certainly a lot more.
But he’s not hearing it from the men and women who matter most: His bosses.
Patriots president Jonathan Kraft told ESPN Boston Radio on Friday he has yet to see the video, but he doesn’t question Gronkowski’s actions simply because of his passion for the game.
“One thing I do know is the guy definitely is 100 percent a passionate, passionate competitor when it comes to football,” Kraft said. “He loves football. He wants to win. He wants to get far better. He doesn’t like losing. I don’t, I guess, know specifically that individuals are questioning that, but he’s an ultimate competitor and we’re excited he’s on our football team.
“I feel the team did accomplish a lot this year, and regrettably we fell a little bit brief of the ultimate goal. I do believe that he and the other players probably have different techniques of each celebrating what we had been able to achieve and dealing with the disappointment of that night, and I feel it’s challenging to personalize how any individual would deal with that, and then project it on somebody else. I’d possibly leave it at that.”
Whilst Gronkowski draws the post-Super Bowl ire of fans, Kraft mentioned he isn’t ready to pass judgment on the decision-producing of the 22-year-old, who also created headlines during the team’s bye week for some, well, fascinating pictures that were posted on Twitter.
“(He does) every little thing and then some that he’s asked to do as it relates to the locker room, the football field, the weight area,” Kraft said. “As (young guys) grow up and mature, various things take place. He hasn’t broken any laws, he hasn’t done something else, and I believe it’s hard to spot worth judgments on issues that are personally correct for different individuals.”
