The stars of the Miami Heat wasted no time Wednesday night in going public with their yearning for Peyton Manning to select the Dolphins and South Beach as his new football residence.
Following a challenging-fought victory at home more than the frisky Atlanta Hawks, LeBron James, the Heat’s lightning rod of a superstar, couldn’t maintain Manning’s name out of his mouth in postgame interviews, according to CBSSports.com.
“I’m just saying, Dolphins require a quarterback, and Peyton’s available,” James mentioned.
When asked if he was trying to recruit Manning to Miami, he stated: “I gave my pitch, my one and only pitch. We’ll see what occurs.”
Debate: Manning’s new residence?
James and Manning don’t know each other, the forward stated, “But I’m a Miami Heat player,” James told the Sun-Sentinel, “and I want Miami sports to be fantastic: The U, the Dolphins, the Marlins, the Heat, of course.”
“Peyton Manning is a fantastic player,” James said. “No matter what occurred this past year, his resume speaks for itself and it would be wonderful to have him down here.”
James’ superstar partner Dwyane Wade, whose lobbying brought NBA free agents James and Chris Bosh to Miami in 2010, took to Twitter to express his feelings, writing: “I’m just gonna place it out thr..peyton that number 18 wld appear gr8 in a dolphins uniform..steve ross let’s go.. marlins & heat style..All in.”
Heat veteran Udonis Haslem jumped on board, as well.
“I’m currently working on that,” Haslem mentioned, according to the Palm Beach Post. “I’m thinking Peyton Manning and Reggie Wayne. If we can operate that out, we’ve got massive Brandon Marshall, then we’re on our way. We got a solid defense. So, if you all hear me, Peyton and Reggie, you know what I mean, wink, wink, make it happen.”
Manning did small to douse enthusiasm about the Dolphins’ reported interest upon his return to Florida Wednesday right after his farewell press conference in Indianapolis.
“Well, it’s definitely flattering,” Manning told WSVN-Fox 7, according to the Sun-Sentinel. “Dan Marino is my all-time preferred quarterback immediately after my dad and my brother. He’s No. three…. The Miami Dolphins have a excellent organization, great history. They have new men and women in place. We have no thought what teams are interested.”
Asked regardless of whether it would be appealing to play with Brandon Marshall and Reggie Bush, Manning stated both are “studs.”
