Broncos Coordinator Allen to Meet with Rams

Broncos Coordinator Allen to Meet With Rams

Well, here’s an unexpected development in the Rams head coaching search. They are interviewing a person else other than Jeff Fisher.

The Rams will interview Broncos defensive coordinator Dennis Allen for their head coaching job on Thursday, according to Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Fisher is expected to choose among the Rams and Dolphins this week. The Dolphins have started interviewing candidates once more even though they wait for Fisher, and it appears the Rams are doing the same.

Possibly it’s a way to pressure Fisher to make a decision. Maybe it’s a sign the Rams are worried that Fisher won’t say yes to their offer you.

More most likely it’s just the Rams covering their bases. Cardinals defensive coordinator Ray Horton is the only other identified name that the Rams have met with about their leading job.

Rams please get fisher, I dont want him coaching my Fins. Plus why would he want to operate for our dumb ass owner. Wish we got Jim Harbaugh last year, Go Phins 2012!

  2. kd75 says: Jan 9, 2012 ten:03 PM

He’s actually going to have a job interview the Thursday before a playoff game in Foxboro?

  3. kd75 says: Jan 9, 2012 10:10 PM

That’s a Saturday 8pm game. There’s no way Allen would fly to StLoo on Wednesday for a job interview on Thursday while prepping for a playoff game on Saturday.

  4. roamingabriel says: Jan 9, 2012 10:11 PM

Maybe or perhaps this is what the Rams said they had been going to do.

    It’s named “Plan B”.

  5. mrplow3 says: Jan 9, 2012 ten:12 PM

Tebow needs coaching stability. Denver far better hope he flops in his interview.

  6. habsman says: Jan 9, 2012 ten:13 PM

Wouldn’t it be funny if Mr. Fisher’s arogance results in him obtaining neither of the two jobs?

  7. mcjon22 says: Jan 9, 2012 10:15 PM

Not quite intelligent of the Rams to have not of interviewed numerous candidates by now. But then once again, it is the Rams

  8. elmustardo says: Jan 9, 2012 ten:20 PM

Have the Rams met with any minority candidates to satisfy the Rooney rule?

  9. dlew2191 says: Jan 9, 2012 10:23 PM

    This is what occurred:

Kroenke doesn’t want to admit he made a mistake with McDaniels as O-coordinator.

So McDaniels makes a deal with Kroenke: I’ll leave on my own with no you firing me IF you interview Denver’s D-coordinator Allen.

McDaniels produced Kroenke interview Allen to mess up Denver’s preparation for Tom Brady and McDaniels’ offense in NE.

This makes McDaniels look good again.

I’m just jk-ing but this would be funny if it were correct!

  10. maximusprime107 says: Jan 9, 2012 10:24 PM

    @ mrplow3

yeah, Tebow needs the defensive coordinator for coaching stability

    come on now

  11. samtheram says: Jan 9, 2012 10:24 PM

He would have his interview in Denver, just like they did with Fisher.

  12. scyankee9999 says: Jan 9, 2012 10:30 PM

I hear that it’s achievable from a source close to the scenario that Fisher thinks possibly McKenzie will fire Jackson and then Fisher will be able to wear black like he did with the Bears when he worked for Buddy Ryan while Rex was a kid so I feel he’s going to the Eagles to be DC there once again…

  18. silverhornet says: Jan 9, 2012 ten:42 PM

I don’t know that Dennis Allen is qualified to be a HC. Appears like the Rams are attempting to interview anybody just to put pressure on Fisher. Allen is the only they could get.

With Contract Up, OBrien Could Be on the Move

There is a lot of drama surrounding Kansas City’s season finale, but Sunday’s game will quickly be forgotten in Kansas City in the days that adhere to.

The Chiefs want to locate a head coach. Speculation has centered around G.M. Scott Pioli possibly removing the “interim” tag from Romeo Crennel’s title.

Crennel would then require to add an offensive coordinator, with Josh McDaniels a most likely candidate. NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora believes another option could emerge.

Patriots offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien’s contract expires at the finish of the season. That essentially makes him a free agent and a person that could leave New England, even for a lateral move. La Canfora reports O’Brien is also expected to receive “overtures” to interview for head coaching gigs. (It’s doable he could interview for the Chiefs’ best job.)

The reality this news was leaked could be an indication that O’Brien is open to moving on. He’s still not the logical choose in Kansas City. Don Banks of SI.com hears by way of league sources that Pioli is expected to pair McDaniels with Crennel.

The thinking is that McDaniels could offer a lengthy-term head coaching selection, although Crennel, 64, handles the job in the short-term. McDaniels could use a few years to rebuild his reputation.

The Chiefs require to win consistently, of course, for that to happen. That hasn’t been an simple process for any Bill Belichick protege.

Coaches could leave New England, but Tom Brady isn’t going anywhere.

He did absolutely nothing with a decent Denver team. Nothing for Sam Bradford…

Let me get this straight I’m supposed to think if you suck as a HC, suck as a QB coach, a GM will hire you for a OC/HC? I could have the success that McDaniels had, and I never produced it out of HS football.

Does proving your worth by good results not hold any water anymore? At least the OC in NE would make sense. Though this Patriots tree hasn’t seemed to function for anyone. So possibly another tree ought to be explored. Possibly 1 with Cowher/Schottenheimer roots…

Josh McDaniels Enjoying Coordinator Role

 Josh McDaniels enjoying coordinator role

While Josh McDaniels’ prized draft choose gets a lot of attention in Denver, McDaniels has quietly operated below the radar in St. Louis.

The Rams’ new offensive coordinator is busy attempting to teach his scheme to a new group of players and a coaching staff that he largely inherited. McDaniels sounds pleased to be out of the head coach spotlight for a bit.

“This has been great for me. We’re blessed to have the opportunity to function in this profession every day,” McDaniels said via the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. “The group of guys and the coaching staff has produced this transition for me unbelievable. . . .  Focusing on the offense, trying to get better on that side of the ball, coaching the quarterbacks is genuinely something I really like to do.”

It is some thing that McDaniels excels at.  In St. Louis, he has a quarterback in Sam Bradford with more natural talent than two of his prior pupils Matt Cassel and Kyle Orton. The Rams have a deep, young receiver group without having a true No. 1 guy. That’s a setup that has worked for McDaniels in the past.

“I feel we’re having a lot of enjoyable. And I do not think you hear that word a lot in training camp,” McDaniels said.

We see McD as one of the biggest x-factors in the NFC. If he can bring about reasonable improvement to the Rams offense, St. Louis is the clear preferred in the NFC West.

If McDaniels can aid make the Rams offense really hazardous, St. Louis could be a genuine contender.

Chiefs Punter Says Todd Haley Thinks Josh McDaniels Was Cheating

Chiefs punter says Todd Haley thinks Josh McDaniels was cheating

Last season, after the Broncos beat the Chiefs for 1 of Denver’s rare wins given that beginning the 2009 season 6-, Kansas City coach Todd Haley’s post-game handshake with former Broncos coach Josh McDaniels was replaced with a pointed index finger.

Chiefs punter Dustin Colquitt, appearing on the Vic &amp Gary show on 102.3 the Fan in Denver, offered an eye-opening explanation for the maneuver.

Haley, per Colquitt, thought McDaniels was cheating.

“I do not know if I can answer that within the locker room, but I know that it has something to do with the Spygate, the videotaping,” Colquitt mentioned.  “All the stuff like that.  And I think that Haley was like, ‘Listen, based on that game I can tell what you are doing, and you are cheating.’ . . .

“I feel it was just a culmination of rumors and [McDaniels] had been involved in that in New England possibly before, and so Todd was just type of saying, ‘Look, with the game program we had and what you guys already knew we were gonna do, this is’ . . . basically saying it was ‘bush, bush league.’”

Given the candor that players have been displaying of late, we’re type of beginning to like the lockout.

Sam Bradford Could Be Getting Help from Ben McDaniels

Sam Bradford could be getting help from Ben McDaniels

After the lockout began, some (such as us) speculated that Rams quarterback Sam Bradford could understand new offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels’ offense with the help of unemployed (for now) Ben McDaniels, who also happens to be Josh’s brother.

With Bradford, the 2010 offensive rookie of the year, becoming coy about the persons with whom he’s working to learn the Josh McDaniels offense, Rams guru Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch hinted during a recent on the web chat that there may be some merit to such ruminations.

“This is one rare occasion where I wouldn’t necessarily dispute the conspiracy theorists,” Thomas wrote in response to the question of no matter whether Ben McDaniels is quietly working with Bradford.

Though the lockout rules avoid Bradford from working with Josh McDaniels, absolutely nothing prevents Bradford from working with Ben McDaniels.  Even if, as Thomas believes, Ben McDaniels will eventually be hired by the Rams to work as an assistant coach.

McDaniels Will Serve As Rams’ O-coordinator and QBs Coach

Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo confirmed to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch on Wednesday that he will not hire a quarterbacks coach, meaning new offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels also will serve that role in 2011.

Rams Hire Josh McDaniels As Offensive Coordinator

On Tuesday, former Denver Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels agreed to become the St. Louis Rams’ offensive coordinator.
“I’ve always recognized that he is one of the top offensive minds in the NFL,” Rams head coach Steve Spagnuolo said of McDaniels. “We think he is a great addition to our organization.”
McDaniels, only 34, will be charged with helping quarterback Sam Bradford reach his full potential. McDaniels’ past with quarterbacks should have Bradford very optimistic about his own future. McDaniels was the offensive coordinator in New England from 2006 to 2008. He ran the dominating offense that brought the undefeated Patriots to Super Bowl XLII. The next season, he helped Matt Cassel transform from an unknown backup to a very valuable free agent. And before being fired in Denver, Kyle Orton was on the way to the best season of his career and was even involved in some early MVP discussions. FANTASY ANALYSIS: Right now, McDaniels is not a head coach. But he knows NFL offenses, especially quarterbacks. Bradford’s not going to produce like ’07 Brady next season; the offense should still run, so to speak, through Steven Jackson and the organization needs to upgrade its receiving corps through the draft. But given what McDaniels has done with his previous subjects, this is an indication that Bradford will be a very valuable fantasy commodity sooner rather than later.
