Exonerated by the authorities for allegations that he committed assault at a bar in the course of the 2010 football season, Titans receiver Kenny Britt now faces a lawsuit (as MDS lately pointed out) for the incident.
A copy of the complaint obtained by Ron Zeitlinger of the Jersey Journal reveals that Britt is accused of striking the plaintiff, Harold Pointer, on the head repeatedly even though co-defendant Bradford Miser was on leading of Pointer.
The suit also alleges that Britt and Miser had been escorted out of the nightclub at which the alleged incident occurred right after a prior physical altercation, but then allowed to return. Pointer claims that, after he allegedly was beaten, security at the club removed Pointer and another man, permitting Britt and Miser to remain inside.
The truth that criminal charges weren’t filed against Britt doesn’t matter. Civil situations entail a significantly lower standard of proof, and Britt could be discovered legally responsible for the injuries despite in no way becoming prosecuted for any associated crimes.

Last month, the law firm of Barnes & Thornburg hoped to represent a group of players who wanted to intervene in the Tom Brady antitrust lawsuit. Those hopes had been dashed by a conflict of interest that the NFL declined to waive.
But the effort to round up players who would intervene in the antitrust action continues.
Per a source with understanding of the scenario, the Cafferty Faucher firm, with offices in Philadelphia, Chicago, and Ann Arbor, has been attempting to recruit players to intervene in the pending action. Cafferty Faucer is the firm that the Associated Press erroneously identified last month as the firm that was unable to proceed due to a conflict of interest.
Per the source, a Cafferty Faucher lawyer has known as at least 1 NFL agent in the hopes of representing one or more of the agent’s customers. The lawyer did not respond to an e-mail from PFT providing an chance to respond, to dispute the contention, and/or to clarify the situation.
It remains to be observed regardless of whether any players will attempt to intervene in the pending litigation. The fact that no player has publicly voiced concern regarding the handling of the lawsuit suggests that, to date, no other players are willing to complicate an already complex situation in a manner that could give the owners some additional leverage.
