Cleveland (NFL/Newsfeed) – On Thursday morning, the Cleveland Browns leaked data that they expected Colt McCoy to make a “big leap forward” in 2012. By Thursday night, he was on the trade block.
Monday has arrived, and McCoy is back where he began: The Browns’ team facility. Tom Withers of The Associated Press noted that McCoy was present for the team’s offseason program.
Genuinely, what alternative does he have?
Jason La Canfora of NFL Network tells ATL that the Browns expect McCoy to be back on the team. The Browns can’t get anything for him in a trade unless some injury pops up on an additional team for the duration of education camp. It appears the Browns won’t push McCoy out the door, and he’s clearly not pushing to leave.
It’s all a little awkward because the Browns clearly see Brandon Weeden as their starter. Give McCoy credit for realizing that his best chance to truly compete for snaps remains with the Browns.

The deal to send cornerback Asante Samuel to the Atlanta Falcons from the Philadelphia Eagles has been finalized, a supply with understanding of the scenario told NFL Network’s Albert Breer.
It’s not yet known what the Falcons will send the Eagles in return for the nine-year veteran.
Samuel and the Falcons have agreed to terms on a 3-year, $ 18.five million deal.

INDIAN OLIS — The Indianapolis Colts and quarterback Peyton Manning have till Friday prior to the deadline hits on any talks for a renegotiated deal, league sources with information of the quarterback’s deal told NFL Network inside Jason La Canfora on Tuesday, but the likelihood remains that a final decision on Manning will come by Thursday, club sources said.
The final stage of the approach is in the hands of Manning and owner Jim Irsay, and those two alone. It’s not out of the question that the parties could use the added time, but it’s unlikely that Irsay will drag this out longer, according to sources.
Four sources with understanding of Manning’s rehab also lately mentioned that he steadily has regained strength in his grip and triceps and that Manning has been throwing the ball “really nicely.”

Rutgers coach Greg Schiano is beneath consideration for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ head-coach job, according to a source with information of the scenario.

The Oakland Raiders have reached an agreement with Green Bay Packers director of football operations Reggie McKenzie to grow to be their new general manager, the team announced Friday.

The physicians have no options. This is cut-and-dried.”
Cohen also indicated the Bears’ hopes that Cutler will return prior to the finish of the season may well be too optimistic.
“It will take the bone four to six weeks to heal and he will need at least a couple of weeks to get his mobility back and be in a position to grip a football with that thumb even right after the six weeks,” Cohen said. “I don’t know the particulars of the schedule, but to me the earliest possible return to play for an injury like that is closer to eight weeks.”

Kevin Kolb is no longer a member of the Philadelphia Eagles, but he nonetheless knows their offense as nicely as any person.
That was apparent on Sunday, when Kolb — now a member of the Cardinals — gave his new team some inside information from the sideline throughout Arizona’s 21-17 win in Philadelphia.
“During the two-minute drill, you practically really feel guilty,” Kolb said with a laugh, according to Philly.com. “Mike’s sitting there giving the signals, and I’m standing there on our sidelines, screaming at our corners, ‘Hey it’s a go ball, hey he’s running a screen, hey he’s running a slant.’ “
