Chargers Get a Break on Scheduling

Chargers get a break on scheduling

Even though the late commence on Sunday gives Pats fans extra time to get “lubed up,” it gives the Chargers extra time to do some thing far a lot more crucial.

Sleep.

In 2011, the Chargers will play only 1 game that kicks off at 10:00 a.m. nearby time, as recently pointed out by the San Diego Union-Tribune.  It is the fewest early begins they’ve had in at least 15 years.

“Good, that’s how it should be,” safety Eric Weddle told the Union-Tribune.  “[Games at] 10 a.m. are the worst.  I do not care what any individual says.  Just your body, mentality, physically, you are just not up.  It takes you a quarter, and that’s a massive advantage whether or not you can get down or if you can preserve just staying even with team.  You know the records . . . not just us.  Everybody.”

In the past five years, teams based in the Pacific time zone have won 35 and lost 74 games that start off at 1:00 p.m. ET.

This year, the other four West Coast teams play at least five 10:00 a.m. nearby time games, every.

That will surely be an problem on Sunday for the Raiders, given that they had a brief week right after a road game in Denver, and that they’ll be playing at 1:00 p.m. ET in Buffalo.

Also this week, the Seahawks play the Steelers at 1:00 p.m. ET, and the Cardinals play the Redskins at 1:00 p.m. ET.  Though we’re not advocating for an increase in 4:05/four:15 p.m. ET starts, at a minimum the West Coast team that has to play an early game on the other side of the country ought to at least play a property game the prior week — and not be necessary to play an early game following playing on a Monday night, either property or away.

Back with Chargers, Vincent Jackson says, I feel like this is home

Chargers receiver Vincent Jackson, a season removed from an ugly holdout that dragged into the typical season, appears to be ready to let bygones be bygones.

Speaking at training camp, in video posted by the San Diego Union-Tribune, Jackson made clear that he has no hard feelings toward G.M. A.J. Smith or anyone else in the organization.

“I’ve never had a difficulty with anybody in this developing,” Jackson stated.  “I really feel like this is house.”

It’s a far cry from last year, when the mood was so poor that a lot of believed Jackson would never play for the Chargers once again.  This year, he has signed his 1-year franchise tender, which will pay him much more than $ 10 million in 2011.

Speaking of $ 10 million, Jackson calmly refuted the notion that he or his representatives had been searching for anything in exchange for his decision to drop his portion of the Brady class action lawsuit.  That contention conflicts with many media reports that Jackson’s agents wanted Jackson to turn out to be a totally free agent, or to be paid $ 10 million.
