Bills Vs Cardinals Week 6

The Buffalo Bills have decided to remain out west immediately after the beating they took in Week five from the San Francisco 49ers. The Bills defense gave up 1,201 yards and 97 points in the two previous games they played in. In those very same two games, the Bills had been outscored 97-31 (a 68 point margin). With all of the aspects stated above, predicting a Bills win is more or much less the very same as choosing the winning Mega Millions lottery numbers.

Here’s a quick appear at the teams:
Buffalo Bills (2-three)
Offense: 17th, 351. Yards Per Game (YPG)
Rush: 5th, 144.2 YPG
Pass: 26th, 206.eight YPG

Defense: 9,999,9999,9999th…seriously, 31st 449.four YPG (Yes, a group is crappier than the Bills on defense [Saints])
Rush: 30th, 171.8 Miles Per Carry
Pass: 24th, 277.6 YPG

Arizona Cardinals (4-1)
Offense: 31st, 273.2 YPG
Rush: 31st 63.three YPG
Pass: 25th 209.eight YPG

Defense: 11th, 334. YPG
Rush: 14th, 103. YPG
Pass: 234. YPG

If the Bills want to prove to themselves and the rest of the globe that they have not quit, then the time is now. Otherwise, we already know the answer to that. Although this is a game the Bills could win, I am going with the Cardinals, considering how pathetic the Bills have looked the preceding two weeks.

Right here are the rest of my Week six predictions:
Steelers over the Titans
Falcons more than the Raiders
Ravens more than the Cowboys (Sorry Cowgirl, get ready for a Baltimore Beatdown!)
Bengals more than the Browns (Get ready to commence packing Wilford Brimley)
Rams over the Dolphins
Colts over the Jets
Eagles more than the Lions (Who let the dogs out…)
Buccaneers over the Chiefs
Patriots more than the Seahawks (BAHSTON SOCKS CAWK!!!)
49ers over the Giants
Vikings more than the Redskins
Texans more than the Packers
Broncos more than the Chargers

Bills – Patriots Week 4 Matchup

It is time for Week four in the NFL. Right after a third week of replacement officials, the replacements and the NFL hit an all-time low with the horrific display of officiating during the Monday night football game between the Green Bay Packers and the Seattle Seahawks. Due to the fact of the heavy backlash from the fans and players, the NFL and the standard referee’s lastly settled their differences.

Now, onto the Week 4 matchup amongst the Buffalo Bills (two-1) and the New England Patriots (1-two). After a porous outing in Week 1, the Bills have rebounded and won their final two games. On the flip side, the Patriots won their first game of the season, and have lost their preceding two games. The Patriots have not lost three games in a row beneath Bill Belichek and Tom Brady considering that the 2002 season. Can the Bills be the very first team in nearly ten years that provides the Patriots their third loss in a row? Let’s take a look and see.

The Patriots are at the moment ranked 9th in all round offense (12th in rushing and 9th in passing), and 24th in general defense (9th in rush defense, 24th in pass defense). The Bills are presently ranked 11th in general offense (3rd in rushing, 26th in passing), and 19th in all round defense (14th in rush defense, and 19th in pass defense).

In a previous short article, I discussed how the Bills very best possibility of beating the Patriots is in the first division game they play against them of the year. Beginning from the 2003 season, right here are the scores from the first division game of the year vs the Patriots: 2003: Bills 31- Patriots , 2004: Patriots 31 – Bills 17, 2005: Patriots 21 – Bills 16, 2006: Patriots 19 – Bills 17, 2007: Patriots 38 – Bills 7, 2008: Patriots 20 – Bills ten, 2009: Patriots 25 – Bills 24, 2010: Patriots 38 – Bills 30, 2011: Bills 34 – Patriots 31. Throughout this time span, the Patriots outscored the Bills 223-186 in the very first division games of the year. With out the two Bills victories (from 2003 and 2011), the Patriots outscored the Bills 192-121.

Now for the scary component, the second division games of the year vs the Patriots: 2003: Patriots 31 – Bills , 2004: Patriots 29 – Bills six, 2005: Patriots 35 – Bills 7, 2006: Patriots 28 – Bills 6, 2007: Patriots 56 – Bills ten, 2008: Patriots 13 – Bills , 2009: Patriots 17 – Bills 10, 2010: Patriots 34 – Bills three, 2011: Patriots 49 – Bills 21. In the identical time span as stated above, the Patriots outscored the Bills 292-57 in the second division game of the year. In every single game since 2003, the Patriots have beaten and heavily outscored the Bills much more in the second division game than in the very first.

The positives/positive aspects for the Bills going into this game are:
The Bills offensive line has not permitted a sack in three games played (I am not counting the ball slipping out of Ryan Fitzpatrick’s hand as a sack).

The Bills offensive line has been extremely instrumental in making holes and downfield blocks to help spring their Running Backs (RBs) for big gains.

The Bills defensive front 4 has been considerably improved against the run so far this season.

The Bills defensive front 4 have been really good the last two games at collapsing the pocket, generating pressure and sacks. This is large thinking about Tom Brady is really great at stepping up into the pocket when he feels pressure coming from the edges.

RB Fred Jackson most likely will return to play on Sunday.

The Patriots offensive line has gone by way of some modifications in the offseason, and do not appear to be the identical dominant force that they after were.

The negatives for the Bills are:

RB CJ Spiller is most probably out for this game due to a shoulder injury, sustained this past Sunday against the Browns.

Even if RB Fred Jackson does play on Sunday, how productive will he be coming off a knee injury from Week 1?

Wide Receiver (WR) David Nelson is out for the season, so that requires away a big red zone target for Bills QB Ryan Fitzpatrick.

The Bills secondary is extremely young. Although the secondary has enhanced over the past two games, they are nevertheless extremely inexperienced and are nonetheless acquiring burned for big plays. Patriots QB Tom Brady is 1 of the finest in the league at playing the “dink and dunk” game.

If each Spiller and Jackson were 100%, and the Bills did not manhandled by the Jets in Week 1, I would predict the Bills to win this one particular. But, thinking about the injuries to the Bills, and the fact that the Patriots will be playing with a enormous chip on their shoulders following losing two games in a row, I’m going with my gut feeling and taking the Patriots on this one.

I went 7-9 in my Week 3 predictions (26-22 for the season). Here are my other Week four predictions:
Ravens over Browns
Falcons more than Panthers
Lions more than Vikings
Texans more than Titans
Chargers more than Chiefs
Seahawks over Rams
Cardinals more than Dolphins
Broncos over Raiders
Bengals over Jaguars
Packers over Saints
Redskins over Buccaneers
Giants over Eagles
Bears more than Cowboys

Bills Vs Browns

It is time for Week three in the NFL. 1st, I’ll discuss the meeting between the Buffalo Bills and the Cleveland Browns. Immediately after two weeks of play, the Bills offense ranks at 7th all round (1st in rushing, 28th in passing…OUCH!!), and the defense ranks tied for 25th (24th rush, 23rd pass). The Browns offense ranks 22nd all round (tied for 11th in rushing, and 23rd in passing), and the defense ranks tied for 29th overall (18th rush, and 28th pass). Each the Bills and the Browns have quite very good offensive lines, and very very good running backs (RB’s). Each teams’ defensive coordinators [Dave Wannstedt and Dick Jauron] will have their hands full on Sunday as they attempt and slow down their opponents rushing attacks.

This game will be a hard battle, so do not let the Browns -2 record fool you. The Browns are a tough, young team with a lot of talent and upside. The Bills will have to play a extremely very good game to come away with their 1st road win because opening day in 2011. My prediction for the game: Bills 23, Browns 17.

Following going 11-five in my predictions for Week 1, I went 8-8 final week (19-13 overall). Let’s see if I can rebound on my predictions for Week three:
Panthers more than the Giants (Giants have as well many injuries)
Rams more than the Bears (Dissention is beginning in Chicago)
Bills over the Browns (Spiller the Thriller continues…)
Cowboys more than the Buccaneers (watch out for the kneel downs)
Colts over Jaguars (Hey Ray Bentley, its JAG-WARS not JAG-WIRES!!)
Jets more than Dolphins
49ers over the Vikings
Saints over the Chiefs
Lions more than the Titans
Bengals over the Redskins (Losing Orakpo &amp Carriker is going to hurt the Redskins D massive time)
Eagles over Cardinals
Falcons more than the Chargers
Texans more than the Broncos
Steelers more than the Raiders
Ravens over the Patriots
Packers over the Seahawks

Grading the Bills: Week 1

Right after Sunday’s gut-wrenching loss to the New York Jets, it is really difficult to try and muster up anything at all good about the Buffalo Bills. Listed beneath are the grades I’m handing out to the team. We’ll commence off with the offense very first.

Offense: D
What stopped the grade from getting an “F” was Bills Running Back (RB) CJ Spiller’s rushing functionality. Spiller ripped off a 56 yarder for a Touchdown (TD) in the second quarter. But, the Bills would not get on the scoreboard again till the score was 41-7 in the third quarter. At that point in the game, New York Jets Head Coach (HC) Rex Ryan had put in most of his backup players in on defense, and eased up on their attack of the Bills offense. By Ryan carrying out such, the Bills had been capable to score three TD’s between the third and fourth quarters. By that time, it was as well little, also late for the Bills as the Jets went on to win 48-28.

RB’s: A+
CJ Spiller had 169 yards (yds) on 14 carries and a single rushing TD. Spiller had a 56 yd TD run, a 49 yd run, and almost broke a few a lot more for enormous gains. Overall, the Bills had 195 yds rushing on the day. At the moment, Spiller, as effectively as the Bills offense ranks #1 in the NFL in rushing yds.

Wide Receiver’s (WRs): C
When your beginning Quarterback (QB) is either telegraphing his passes, throwing behind you or is late with his throws, it’s quite tough for a WR to make any plays. Bills WR’s Steve Johnson and Donald Jones had combined for 9 receptions (rec), 96 yds and 2 TD’s. Jones was the very best pass defender on the field as he batted down a Ryan Fitzpatrick pass that would have been intercepted by the Jets. As well undesirable Jones couldn’t play both WR and Cornerback (CB).

Tight Ends (TEs): B
Starting Bills TE Scott Chandler had four rec’s for 38 yds and 1 TD. Chandler played as efficiently as you could have expected from him, provided the limited quantity of throws from Fitzpatrick. Lee Smith had 1 rec for five yds.

QB: F
However, F is the lowest grade you can give a person. If somebody could have the honor bestowed upon them with obtaining a lower grade than F, the honor would belong to Fitzpatrick. Even even though Fitzpatrick was late acquiring the ball out to WR Steve Johnson on the first pick, if that ball was thrown far sufficient to the outside, it’s either incomplete or caught by Johnson. The second interception was thrown behind an open David Nelson. Those had been not undesirable decisions, individuals had been just bad throws by Fitzpatrick. The third pick that the Jets returned for a choose six was indeed a poor choice from which you see from the likes of High School QB’s, not beginning NFL QB’s. Fitzpatrick was either throwing behind his WR’s, slow to throw the pass or telegraphing his passes.

Offensive Line: A
The Offensive Line gave Fitzpatrick sufficient time in the pocket on Sunday to make his throws, and did not allow a sack. Also, the line opened some excellent holes for Spiller to blast via.

Defense: D-
When it requires almost to the fourth quarter to force a punt, then you know your group is in difficulty. When your offense turns it over 4 times, it tends to make everyone’s job on defense that significantly harder.

Run Defense: B-
The Bills run defense, particularly in years previous against the Jets was putrid. But on Sunday, the Bills run defense held the Jets to 118 rushing yds at three.3 yards per carry. While the run defense showed considerable improvements, mainly due to the extremely touted defensive front 4 of Buffalo, they could not hold the Jets in 3rd and short circumstances.

Pass Rush: F
No sacks on Sanchez, and there had been only a handful of times where the Bills had been capable to chase Sanchez out of the pocket. In week 1, the $ 100+ Million dollar investment to shore up the pass rush did not payoff.

Pass Defense: F
The Bills CB’s and Safeties were either giving the Jets WR’s &amp TE’s a ten-15 yard cushion, or becoming physically manhandled at the line of scrimmage. By far, this was the Bills weakest group of the entire team.

Unique Teams: D-
Looks like the only ones that showed up for the unit had been Bills kickers, John Potter and Rian Lindell. The special teams unit gave up a expensive 68 yd punt return for a TD.

Coaching: F
Just like Fitzpatrick, if any individual deserves a lower grade than F, then that honor must be shared with Chan Gailey, Bruce DeHaven and Dave Wannstedt. The Bills looked like they had been nonetheless in preseason mode. The Bills defense looked really vanilla, and barely brought any blitzes. Wannstedt did a extremely poor job of creating modifications throughout the game.

Here are some post game quotes from Gailey: ‘”We need to have to tighten up our coverage which will help our pass rush,” why thank you, Captain Apparent!

“This is a cliché and I recognize it. It is one of sixteen and if you win enough, you get in the playoffs.” I have two issues with this quote. First off, Gailey has been preaching considering that day 1 as Bills HC that he doesn’t hope to win, he expects to win. So, now Gailey has either lowered his expectations, or has been blowing smoke up our collective butts. Second, while Sunday’s game was only one of 16, it was against a division rival [Jets], and the game is only one particular of six. Appropriate now, the Bills are -1 in the AFC East. Final season, the Bills were 1-5 in the division. The much better your win/loss record is in the division, the greater the chances you will have of generating the playoffs.

One thing is for certain, the complete Bills team, each players and coaches need to have to straighten this ship out swift prior to there is a mass mutiny amongst the natives [Bills fans].

Which Bills Player Could Put Up Career Stats in 2012, Part 6 – The Finale

The final player on this series that we’ll be discussing is Free of charge Security (FS) Jairus Byrd. Byrd was an anomaly in his 1st season with the Bills as he recorded nine Interceptions (INT’s) in his rookie campaign. But, after the 2009 season, Byrd’s INT’s total went down considerably. What created Byrd’s nine INT’s far more impressive, was the truth that he played in 14 games, and started in 11.

In the 2011 season, Byrd place with each other his finest complete stats to date with 98 Tackles (T) (75 solo/23 assisted), 1 Sack, eight Passes Defended (PD), 3 Interceptions (INT’s), 1 Touchdown (TD), and three Forced Fumbles (FF).

Now, for the big query, why did Byrd have so considerably results in 2009 with INT’s, but not so much the following two seasons? The answer: lack of a pass rush. 2009 was the last time the Bills employed a consistent pass rusher in Aaron Schobel. In 2009, Schobel had 10 sacks in his final season in a Bills uniform. Considering that then, Defensive Tackles (DT’s) Kyle Williams and Marcell Dareus led the Bills in sacks as Williams had five.5 sacks in 2010, and Dareus repeated those numbers in 2011. At the time when Williams and Dareus had five.five sacks, they were playing as Nose Tackles (NT’s) in a hybrid three-four/four-3 defense. If the NT’s are major the group in sacks, that means that the defense is producing no pressure from the edge, meaning that there are no elite edge rushers that the offense has to be concerned about double teaming, and the line can focus even much more interest to stopping the nose tackle.

As stated in the previous articles, the Bills ultimately have four guys on the defensive line that can create pressure, close in the pocket and force the opposing Quarterback (QB) to throw the more rapidly than he would like to, as properly as getting bodies/arms/hands in the QB’s throwing lane. Add in Bills new Defensive Coordinator Dave Wannstedt implementing his 4-three defensive technique exactly where the Defensive front four’s specific jobs are to penetrate the Offensive line and produce pressure. With every thing put together on defense this past offseason, we can count on Byrd’s INT total to go up once again and look for him to place up the very best numbers of his young NFL career to date this season.

Will the Defense Carry the Team?

Right after years of struggling to cease the run and to place pressure on the opposing QB’s the Bills once again have created moves to shore up each difficulties. This past off season was a bonanza of additions we haven’t seen considering that they signed players such as Bryce Paup, Chris Spielman and Ted Washington for the duration of the mid 90′s. They helped carry on the winning tradition of the SB teams till their departures. The Bills did make a run of signing defensive LB’s Spikes, Fletcher, Posey and DT Adams in the early 2000′s but the overall team results was fleeting with the only winning season coming in 2004. As we all know the 9-7 record got the Bills a game away from the playoffs as they lost the season finale to the Steelers 29-24… The wheels have spun off since then and the Bills have not created it to the playoffs since 1999 an wonderful string of 12 straight years.

Can the addition of DE’s Super Mario and Mark Anderson along with a healthful Kyle Williams team with superb DT Marcell Dareus change the fortunes of this once proud franchise? There is also ample depth that has been added because Buddy took the helm with Carrington, Troup, Edwards, Merriman and from the holdovers from the Jauron regime, Johnson and Kelsay. The D-line is now a unit of strength and talent but will have to carry the defense as the LB unit and secondary are going via a continued transition from the Tampa two to larger kinds of players. Again the LB unit has gotten larger and stronger with the addition of Sheppard, Barnett, Morrison and young players White, Moat, Bradham and Carder. The secondary continues to turnover with the release of starters Whitner final year and Drayton this year as the Bills have added younger players Williams, Byrd, Rogers, Searcy and Gilmore to go with steady vet an fan favorite Wilson. Bryan Scott can play either sturdy safety or LB and along with injury prone McGee and the ever disappointing McKelvin may well have a challenging time making the team this year.

There is so considerably talent on the defense that it is tough not to get excited about watching them play but can they carry the team in the Offensive Style of NFL play?

Harper Wants Saints, Spagnuolo to Maintain Williams’ Intensity

New Orleans (NFL/Newsfeed) — The 2012 season shapes up as a crucible for the New Orleans Saints defense. In between the stigma of the league’s “bounty” findings and the loss of linebacker Jonathan Vilma (suspened for the complete season) and defensive finish Will Smith (suspended for the first four ganes), possibly no NFL defense has ever gone into a season with far more of a chip on its collective shoulder.

The man charged with rallying the troops is Steve Spagnuolo, the former St. Louis Rams coach and New York Giants coordinator who led Huge Blue’s defense to a Super Bowl victory in 2007.

That resume, and Spagnuolo’s air of confidence, seem to be winning more than the Saints’ veteran players, according to The Instances-Picayune.

“He speaks with so much self-confidence, you have nothing to do but think in this guy and know he’s going to be great for us,” safety Roman Harper mentioned. “He’s been a head coach in this league, had a lot of results as a defensive coordinator, and you’ve got to respect this guy. I’m seeking forward to working with him more and much more.”

The man the players call “Spags” has a challenging act to comply with: His predecessor in the job, Gregg Williams, may have suffered incalculable damage to his reputation — along with an indefinite suspension from the league — for his function in the “bounty” saga, but Williams nevertheless enjoys the fierce loyalty of his former players.

“You know, Gregg lit a fire that a lot of us aren’t going to let burn out. A sense of intensity,” Harper said. “And now we recognize what it takes to win. Just before I don’t consider we understood it, and we didn’t have that complete feeling. But now we’ve been to the top rated of the mountain. We know what it takes to get there. And that’s what we’re attempting to do now.

“It’s either Super Bowl or bust. And we won’t take anything much less this year, no matter what our circumstances are.”

Spagnuolo has a various tactical strategy than Williams, who was well-known for his indulgence in blitzes. And he brings a various leadership style as properly.

“It’s a lot quieter,” safety Malcolm Jenkins said. “And there’s a lot far more teaching and other stuff going on. But Spags nonetheless has a way … there’s not a lot of cursing or something like that, but he has a way of letting you know when he’s significant and when he’s disappointed. It gets across.”

Before Final Game, Gregg Williams Urged Saints to Injure 49ers

Before Final Game, Gregg Williams Urged Saints to Injure 49ers

Just before his final game as defensive coordinator of the New Orleans Saints, Gregg Williams stepped before his players and urged them to physically hurt players on the 49ers.

Audio of Williams’ speech to the Saints’ defense was captured by filmmaker Sean Pamphilon, who is working on a documentary about former Saints player Steve Gleason, who is suffering from ALS. Pamphilon has place element of the audio of the profanity-filled speech on YouTube.

Pamphilon also passed on the audio to Michael Silver of Yahoo Sports since, he said, he was really uncomfortable with what Williams mentioned about attempting to hurt 49ers quarterback Alex Smith and other players. Williams, who masterminded the Saints’ bounty program, hinted that he would financially reward a Saints player who hurts a 49ers player.

“At one particular point Williams says, ‘We hit [expletive] Smith right there’ – then he points below his chin [and continues] – ‘remember me.’ Then he rubs his thumb against his index and middle fingers – the cash sign – and says, ‘I got the 1st one particular. I got the very first one. Go get it. Go lay that [expletive] out,’” Pamphilon told Silver.

Williams has long loved the phrase, “Kill the head and the body will die,” and he utilized that phrase in talking to his players. He also particularly told them to go for the head of 49ers operating back Frank Gore.

“We’ve got to do every thing in the world to make positive we kill Frank Gore’s head,” Williams told his players. “We want him operating sideways. We want his head sideways.”

Williams also talked about trying to inflict a knee injury on 49ers receiver Michael Crabtree and referenced 49ers receiver Kyle Williams, who has had many concussions.

“We want to uncover out in the first two series of the game, the tiny wide receiver, No. ten, about his concussion,” Gregg Williams told his players about Kyle Williams. “We need to [expletive] place a lick on him, move him to determine. He demands to determine.”

Gregg Williams has already been indefinitely suspended by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. This audio may possibly make it difficult for Williams ever to get reinstated. This is the smoking gun that tends to make crystal clear that Williams wanted his players not just to play difficult, physical defense, but to injure their opponents.
