The rough week of Vikings defensive back Chris Cook has gotten a small rougher.

Released from jail on bail following getting arrested for domestic assault over the weekend (which caused him to miss Sunday’s game against the Packers), Cook now faces the loss of his job. Possibly.

Till the Vikings determine what to do with Cook, the team has suspended him with no pay. The team announced the decision on Tuesday night, calling the allegations against Cook “very disturbing and disappointing.”

Cook allegedly choked his girlfriend soon after studying she had talked to an ex-boyfriend. Cook has proclaimed his innocence on Twitter.

Below the CBA, player might be suspended up to 4 games with out pay for conduct detrimental to the team. Redskins linebacker Chris Hanburger was such a violent player, his wife wouldn’t let his youngsters watch him on television.

A day soon after it became clear that the Bears and veteran center Olin Kreutz wouldn’t be able to come to terms, a new veteran center is coming to town.

The Bears have announced that they agreed to terms with center Chris Spencer on a two-year deal.

Spencer has spent his entire six-year career with the Seahawks, and he began all 16 games in Seattle last year.

Tim Ruskell, the Bears’ assistant general manager, was the Seahawks’ common manager in 2005 when they chose Spencer in the initial round of the NFL draft.

The Titans and Chris Johnson have a dilemma.

Johnson won’t show up for work until he gets a new contract, and the Titans apparently won’t give him a new contract until he shows up for function.

Titans G.M. Mike Reinfeldt stated Friday the team is willing to talk contract with Johnson, but he wants to be in camp for it to occur.

“It’s the appropriate way to do it,” Reinfeldt said via Paul Kuharksy of ESPN.com’s AFC South weblog.

Coach Mike Munchak did speak to Johnson to tell him how essential he was to the team by telephone on Thursday.

We’ll have to see who blinks initial in this stare down. Ultimately, we’d be extremely surprised if Johnson doesn’t have a new contract ahead of the season begins.
