Tebow Reportedly Suffered Bruised Lung, Cartilage Tear Vs. Pats

The pain Tim Tebow endured in Saturday’s AFC divisional playoff loss to the New England Patriots was a lot more than emotional.

The Denver Broncos quarterback reportedly suffered numerous injuries soon after he was hit in the pocket during the third quarter of the 45-10 defeat, ESPN.com reported Wednesday.

Tebow tore cartilage along his rib and bruised a lung although suffering fluid buildup in his pleural cavity, a league source told the site.

Tebow, who was 9-for-26 passing for 136 yards against New England, experienced difficulty sleeping more than the weekend since of the pain and underwent an MRI on his chest on Monday, followed by rehab this week.

It doesn’t appear Tebow will be down for lengthy. He told The Denver Post on Tuesday that he’s currently missing day-to-day practices, not to mention the games.

“I was going crazy (Monday),” he said.

Antonio Cromartie Has Bruised Lungs

 Antonio Cromartie has bruised lungs

It was a rough day for cornerback Antonio Cromartie.

The Jets cornerback committed four penalties, lost a fumble on a kickoff, and suffered bruised lungs according to Manish Mehta of the New York Day-to-day News.  He went to an Oakland-region medical center, but returned to the team.  The Jets are calling it a “rib injury.”

Cromartie didn’t play the last six minutes of the game.  The Newark Star Ledger reports Cromartie is “expected to be fine.”  (Which is effortless to say when you are talking about someone else’s bruised lungs.)

The Jets also reportedly fear that tight end Jeff Cumberland tore his Achilles, according to Mehta.

Tramon Williams Has Bruised Shoulder

 Tramon Williams has bruised shoulder

Packers cornerback Tramon Williams left Thursday night’s game against the Saints following hurting his shoulder, but the injury does not seem to be severe.

Coach Mike McCarthy seemed optimistic as he stated today that Williams has a shoulder bruise and will be re-evaluated next week.

McCarthy also said safety Nick Collins suffered a bruise wrist and will be prepared to go next week.

In non-injury news, McCarthy reiterated that Randall Cobb made the wrong decision when returning a kickoff eight yards deep in the finish zone on his NFL-record 108-yard kickoff return. But he stated he was glad Cobb was decisive, and certainly he was happy with the result.

And McCarthy said he thinks Aaron Rodgers is playing with a chip on his shoulder proper now. If a chip on his shoulder is what it takes for Rodgers to play like he played on Thursday, Packers fans really should hope he keeps that chip on his shoulder all season.
