Grossman, Not Beck, to Start at QB for Redskins Vs. Dolphins

Coach Mike Shanahan’s brief fling with John Beck is over, as Rex Grossman will start off at quarterback for the Washington Redskins in Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins, according to a team source.

Beck took more than for Grossman in October right after a flurry of turnovers from Grossman in the Redskins’ loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. The offense hasn’t improved under Beck, even so, and has scored only one touchdown in the past two games — and that score came in garbage time against a San Francisco 49ers prevent-type defense.

Grossman began receiving a lot more first-team function in practice, according to the source. Shanahan informed the team of the quarterback adjust more than the weekend.

The Redskins, with personnel and injury problems on offense, lost all three of Beck’s starts. Beck threw 4 interceptions to two touchdown passes in his 4 games this season.

Beck or Grossman? Shanahan Will Say “Right Before” Opener

Beck or Grossman? Shanahan will say right before opener

John Beck appears to be ahead of Rex Grossman in the Redskins’ quarterback derby, but coach Mike Shanahan says he’ll take his time generating an announcement.

In truth, Shanahan stated Monday he won’t say who his starter is until “right before” kickoff of the Redskins’ Week 1 game against the Giants.

Shanahan added that Beck and Grossman are “very close proper now,” and Redskins offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan says each of them will play with the first-string offense in Thursday’s preseason game against the Ravens.

So for now, the Shanahans want everyone to believe this is an even competition that could finish up going either way. But soon enough 1 quarterback will commence acquiring the vast majority of the practice reps with the starting offense, and whether or not Shanahan announces it publicly or not, it’s secure to say we’ll all hear which quarterback that is effectively ahead of the Redskins take the field against the Giants.

The smart cash is on that quarterback getting Beck.
