Vikings CB Cook Arrested on Domestic Battery Charges

Police arrested Minnesota Vikings cornerback Chris Cook on domestic assault charges early Saturday, meaning he’s all but certain to miss this weekend’s game against the Green Bay Packers.

Cook was booked into Hennepin County Jail, where he is being held with out bail, according to the Star Tribune. He will not seem in court till Monday morning.

The Vikings wouldn’t confirm to NFL.com on Saturday that Cook has officially been ruled out.

Eden Prairie police spokeswoman Katie Beal says the 24-year-old was arrested on two domestic assault chargers with no incident right after a person referred to as 911 about 2 a.m. Saturday to report hearing people across the street yelling and screaming.

Cook is in his second year with the Vikings and was expected to begin against the undefeated Packers in location of the injured Antoine Winfield. Cook’s absence leaves the Vikings’ secondary very thin.

The team issued a statement in response to the news: “The Minnesota Vikings are conscious of the incident involving Chris Cook. We take this matter really seriously and are still gathering all the details of the incident. We will not have any further comment at this time.”

In March, Cook was accused of pulling a gun on a neighbor during a verbal altercation while near his mother’s home in Lynchburg, Va. He was identified not guilty on a misdemeanor gun charge.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
