Five Teams We’d Like to See on HBO’s ‘Hard Knocks’

NFL Network’s Albert Breer reported Saturday the Atlanta Falcons removed themselves from consideration for HBO’s “Hard Knocks,” meaning we’re back to the drawing board.

Exactly where to now? You won’t agree with a word of this, but right here’s my leading 5:

1. Carolina Panthers — Two words: Cam Newton. The likelihood to watch a single of the game’s most engaging young stars prepare for Year Two. The show hinges on head-coach charisma, and Ron Rivera has the moxie to pull this off. A young, driven team, utterly disappointed with last year’s record and anxious to show they’re much better than six-ten. Sign me up.

2. Washington Redskins — A year ago, if I had to choose between (a) nine straight hours of “Wheel of Fortune” blindfolded or (b) an equal amount of backroom Redskins footage with eyes wide open, we’re talking about a coin flip. This is the power of Robert Griffin III.

3. San Francisco 49ers — At February’s combine, watching Jim Harbaugh in genuine time was a revelation: witty, irritated, humorous, brief with reporters and mystical, all wrapped into 1. “Hard Knocks” couldn’t come across a better coach-reality star in 2012.

four. New York Giants — The Jets are fine television, but if they’re unwilling to take an additional swing at the show, let’s focus on the New York team tasked with defending the planet championship, not just talking about 1.

Debate: Toughest schedule

five. New Orleans Saints — Nobody will go for this, but the name of this show is “Hard Knocks.” The skinny: A team that’s made grave blunders, now forced to fight their way out of a corner. Excellent character development. For the players and coaches inside this organization — the ones who had absolutely nothing to do with the “bounty” fiasco — this is the training camp I want to see.

32. Jacksonville Jaguars — I can’t discover anything compelling here. I know the gallant and mustachioed Shahid Khan is possibly hot for this project, but (a) they’ve currently been featured on a version of the show and (b) as soon as was sufficient.

Honorable mention: Houston Texans, Denver Broncos (Manning wouldn’t touch it, Elway may) and the Indianapolis Colts.

We got this all wrong, appropriate?

Atlanta Falcons Pass on HBO’s ‘Hard Knocks’ To Focus on Game

The Atlanta Falcons will not appear on the subsequent season of HBO’s Challenging Knocks, league sources stated Saturday.

The selection was created by, amongst others, owner Arthur Blank, common manager Thomas Dimitroff and head coach Mike Smith. They had been in agreement that the focus really should be on football over the summer, and they didn’t want anything to distract from that.

The Falcons were among a number of teams deemed for the show, but they had been by no means formally supplied, according to a source close to the circumstance.

The Falcons reportedly were the network’s 1st choice the moment the New York Jets appeared to be disinterested in performing the show once again, and Dimitroff was non-committal on the subject when asked by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Thursday.

“Right now, I have nothing to supply on that,” Dimitroff mentioned. “Like all of us, we’ve watched it over the years and there have been some highlights,” Dimitroff mentioned. “There have been some highlights, no questions about that. It’s fascinating Tv.”
